Is the success of IGLESIA NI CRISTO fruits of forced tithing? Find out the truth :)

THERE IS A PERSISTENT rumor among many people from other religions that Iglesia ni Cristo practice the giving of tithes or giving 10% of a member's income to the Church. This alleged practice of tithing is perpetuated by Church detractors who persistently sow rumors about tithing in the Church as a way to dissuade other people from joining the Iglesia ni Cristo. This, alleged practice of tithing, is also due to a common misconception among other people who are awestruck by the unceasing construction of beautiful and magnificent houses of worship or churches all over the world and now the majestic PHILIPPINE ARENA. These people cannot believe that the Iglesia ni Cristo can fund this large scale church building projects and facilities with only the voluntary contributions of its members, the great majority of which are ordinary people and most them are considered poor in the society. Thus, they assume (ACCEPT WITHOUT PROOF) that the Church is forcing or compelling its members to give tithes or 10% of their income so the Church can finance these massive church construction projects.

The Truth:
THERE IS NO TRUTH to the allegation that Iglesia ni Cristo members are forced, compelled, coerced or manipulated to give ten percent of their income to the Church. Contrary to what some people say or believe, the Church do not practice the giving of tithes. Tithing is an Old Testament concept. The tithe was a requirement of the law in which all Israelites were to give 10 percent of everything they earned and grew to the Tabernacle/Temple (Leviticus 27:30; Numbers 18:26; Deuteronomy 14:24; 2 Chronicles 31:5).

In fact, the Old Testament Law required multiple tithes which would have pushed the total to around 23.3 percent, not the 10 percent which is generally considered the tithe amount today. Some understand the Old Testament tithe as a method of taxation to provide for the needs of the priests and Levites in the sacrificial system.

The New Testament nowhere commands, or even recommends, that Christians submit to a legalistic tithe system. Paul states that believers should set aside a portion of their income in order to support the church (1 Corinthians 16:1-2).

Iglesia ni Cristo members give their offerings on a voluntary basis, out of their faith and understanding of the biblical teaching concerning religious offerings. Thus, Iglesia ni Cristo members faithfully follow God’s commandment to His servants in the Christian Era that says:

“Let each one [give] as he has made up his own mind and purposed in his heart, NOT reluctantly or sorrowfully or UNDER COMPULSION, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7, Emphasis Mine)

Guided by this biblical precept, the Church does not in any way dictate or set a quota on the offerings or voluntary contributions of its members. We do not practice the giving of tithes. And it is through these voluntary offerings that the Church is able to finance the construction of beautiful and magnificent houses of worship where they, the members themselves, happily congregate to worship the Lord God Almighty in utmost solemnity. THE CHURCH DOES NOT HAVE INVESTMENTS, or BUSINESSES PURPOSED TO MAKE PROFIT. And all of these are not for the purpose of extravagance or fame and whatsoever, but we always dedicate these for the glory of our Almighty God--the Father.

Many people may not believe nor may not come to understand that this happens in the Iglesia ni Cristo, simply because in their own religious organizations, many of which, cannot even put up a decent place of worship, and many still use public places such as cinemas, auditoriums, grandstands even after many years of giving tithes or offerings to their church leaders.

So how does the Iglesia ni Cristo attained this PHENOMENAL SUCCESS if not because of forced tithing?

Zoilo Galang, editor of Encyclopedia of the Philippines Vol.XX Manila, Phil. C1958, has this to say on p.466.

“…the Church of Christ in the Philippines has converted millions of people of various nationalities. The PHENOMENAL GROWTH and unchecked progress of evangelization have caught the imagination of many. Her achievements, both spiritual and temporal, ARE TOO MARVELOUS TO BE CONSIDERED AS THE WORK OF MAN.”

Definitely the success of the Church of Christ today should not be considered as the work of man. But it is the hand of God who is at work on all of these.

“I will do this so people will observe and recognize, so they will pay attention and understand that the LORD'S POWER HAS ACCOMPLISHED THIS, and that the Holy One of Israel has brought it into being." (Isaiah 41:20, Net Bible, Emphasis Mine)

To all my friends and family who are not yet members of the church, I invite everyone to observe and examine the doctrines and beliefs upheld by the Iglesia ni Cristo. God wants all people to be saved, but first they need to come to a knowledge of the truth. (I Tim. 2:3-4)

What made me so excited to create a blog post tonight!

I did not plan to blog about anything tonight. I was actually about to hit my bed since I promised myself last night not stay up so late hahaha but as I browsed through the astonishing pictures and amazing news about something; and when I posted a status on facebook about that something, I decided to make a blog nalang insted and .. voila!.. Here I am typing a blog entry about that "something". Lels

That "something" I was talking about is no other than the inauguration of the newest and biggest dome indoor arena in the planet! ----the Philippine Arena!!

It has been days since I felt this excitement within me! I can’t believe that INC’s (Iglesia ni Cristo) centennial is only five (5) days away from now! After all the wait, the anticipation.. finally, the day is coming really really soon!

My original plan was to blog about “What makes me so excited this week!”, featuring the Centennial Celebration’s Philippine Arena on thursday but I guess things have escalated too quickly tonight. Hahaha. I just can’t contain it! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah so exciteeeeed!

By the way, for those who have no idea about the arena, here's a quick fact:

The Philippine Arena is a multi-purpose indoor arena at Ciudad de Victoria, a 75-hectare tourism enterprise zone in Bocaue and Santa MariaBulacanPhilippines. With a capacity of up to 55,000, it is the world's largest indoor arena. The centerpiece of the many centennial projects of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) for their grand celebration on July 27, 2014. The legal owner of the arena is the INC's educational institutionNew Era University.

^_^

(All the photos are not mine since I wasn't able to attend the Philippine Arena's Inauguration today, hehe. So credits to all the photo owners especially eagle news!)

I am presenting to you, the World's Biggerst Dome Indoor Arena!
Gaaaah, isn't it pretty? I'm feeling goosebumps as I'm typing this now. huhu

It's very rewarding to think that all the hard works and determination of the members of the church have paid off.

President Aquino gave his speech during the inauguration and said that "this was a proud moment for the Philippines and expressed admiration for the INC which he said seriously takes care of its flock." Why that's very touching :")

The President of the Philippines and the Executive Minister of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church of Christ)

*President Noynoy Aquino and Brother Eduardo Manalo*

"An intense crowd shot from the visitors inside of the Philippine Arena!"

I wish I was there though. Teehee

Here's a trivia for everyone! (Kindly read the description of the photo above)
And did you know? The size of MOA (Mall Of Asia) is only one-fourth of Philippine Arena's size!
Now that's what I call "BIG"

This picture reminds me of the UN Headquarters in New York and I just can't wait to take a selfie here! Hahaha.
Another Trivia:
INC's churches is not solely in the Philippines nor for the Filipinos. The church has been established all around the globe. The Church is for everybody who wishes to join regardless of age, ethnicity or class :)

Who would've thought that a third world country could own the world's biggest indoor arena in the world? That's the power of faith and unity, truly, "We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us".

This is not to lift the chair or brag about all the achievements of the church.. but I can't help but admire the members of the INC's unity in achieving goals for the glory of God. I have never been in an organization so driven and confident with their God-given vision.
It is so heartwarming to be part of this church and take part of its activities! This Arena is for the honor of the Philippines, for the benefit of the Filipino people, and most of all for the glory of God.

To end this,"unplanned" blog post, I would like to say that I am a Proud Filipino and a Proud Member of Iglesia ni Cristo and whatever the world may say, never will I regret the day that I have come to the knowledge of truth and decided to become a member of the true church of Christ. :)

Again, Congratulations to our newest edifice as another strong symbol of a unified body of Christ!

See you all on the CENTENNIAL! :)
Are you ready?

Kabayan Ko, Kapatid Ko | Lingap sa Mamamayan

Kabayan Ko, Kapatid Ko (My Countrymen, My Brethren) project was launched by Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, the Executive Minister of the Church of Christ (Iglesia Ni Cristo). He likewise urged the brethren to further propagate the faith and share the message of salvation to all humanity, especially to our countrymen.

The project is held regularly in different parts of the Philippines and the World!
Last May 24, 2014, the Church of Christ (Iglesia ni Cristo) conducted its My Countrymen, My Brethren; Aid to Humanity (Kabayan Ko Kapatid Ko; Lingap sa Mamamayan) Program in Panaad Park and Stadium, Bacolod City, Negros Occidental. Through the Felix Y. Manalo Foundation, thousands of indigent Negrosanons (members and non-members of the Church) were given aid such as food and other basic needs in compliance with the biblical mandate “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:38 NIV).

Not only that the Iglesia Ni Cristo provide humanitarian aid but also holds its “Evangelical Mission” campaign. For the information of everybody, Iglesia Ni Cristo’s Evangelical Mission is an activity in which the Word of God is being shared with non-members who join the event. Knowing that the aid, such as food, given by the church is only but temporary, the Church acknowledges the greater need for the recipients to obtain the spiritual food which is the word of God.

-------

Look at the crowd who attended Iglesia Ni Cristo's Kabayan Ko, Kapatid Ko Project!
Absolutely fascinating and at the same time exhilarating, hihi.

Glad to have these people during the event :)

Selfie with the crowd! It actually feels like we're attending the Bazooka Rocks Concert/Woodstock because of the number of people surrounding us. Hahaha.

While waiting for the Evangelical Mission to start, I decided to take a photo with these two amazing girls!
Hihihi.
By the way, before the Evangelical Mission started, there were several ice breakers and entertainment offered by the Iglesia Ni Cristo Members from Luzon. Even Victor Wood was there too! Ahhh, his voice is so classic. Here are the pictures:

---

It was a whole-day event and the Evangelical Mission started a little late in the afternoon.
Ka Eduardo Manalo, gave his pastoral letter via video and Brother Glicero Santos Jr. from Luzon led the sermon.

There were different speculations made by different people after the event (as usual) but what matters is that help has been distributed to the ones who are in need and the Gospel was proclaimed for everyone to be enlightened and for them to see the ultimate truth.

Let's Groove with the Mangroves

Hi guys! First, I want you to know that this post is long overdue, but I'm posting it anyway.

So we had this mangrove planting project in an adopted site in Victorias City spearheaded by the KADIWA and BINHI (Youth Organization) of Iglesia Ni Cristo.. The project was named “Let’s groove with the mangroves” because.. well.. mangroves are groovy and so are we.. so we decided to groove together. Hahaha.

For all of you who don’t know, I’m a frustrated environmentalist. Haha. I don’t know, I just had this care for our environment because, maybe, I reckon that Earth is the only planet where we can actually live in. Where else could we possibly evacuate when Earth and everything in it is gone? Mars? Oh please, you’re not entertaining that idea, do you? Hahaha.

Anyway, this project is really helpful since the world we are living today is emaciated by typhoons, earthquakes, landslides and other kinds of calamities. I am proud that Iglesia Ni Cristo’s KADIWA and BINHI (young people) are going out of their comfort zones by helping our Nature and preventing casualties to rise if ever a storm surge or calamity hit the Island of Negros, particularly in Victorias.

(Here are the pictures)

The heat was really intense that time that it already burnt my skin. Nevertheless, we were still thankful that it didn't rain or else it would be hard for us to plant the mangroves :)

This is the parking port of Victorias City.

A numerous number of people participated in this project and this is my obviously failed panorama shot. lols

I wish I had a better picture of these great young people, but anyway..

Here are the Convergys' great employees. Hahaha.

Excited I am to plant those little trees but first, let me take a selfie. Heheheheh lol

I know that this little seedling will go a long way!

(Toiling...)

Go lovey, you can do it!

Hooray for my koikoi's first tree! Yeeeey!

It was not really hard as it may appear..

Hala, sige.

Eventually, I got tired so I decided to dig while sitting a little bit. Haha.

Oh look, the plant is already planted! Yeeeeepie! Hahaha.

Lord commanders of the Earth's watch. if you're a GOT fan, you'll know what I mean. Haha.

As we walked around the area, I noticed that there were wastes thrown into the shore (as usual). Seriously humans, we should stop throwing garbage in the streets and especially in the ocean! It’s really true that your attitude towards the environment say something about who you truly are. An irresponsible and undisciplined kinds of human being. That might sound harsh but that’s reality. So next time, children, throw your waste in its proper place :)
------------------------
Photo Ops will always be present in an event like this, so..

Manman, me and koikoi's portrait with the signage or whatever you call that thing, hihihi.

"I am the King of the World" haha. So much sweg, koikoi.

I love these shots! I looked so happy with what I'm doing, hahaha. Very child like. Proud that I am part of this event and proud to be a member of IGLESIA NI CRISTO.
Thanks for these photos koikoi! :)

-----------------------------

We don’t have to wait for another disaster to fall upon us before we could take actions.
We should take good care of our environment regardless of our race, social standing or whatnot because after all we are living in the same roof (Our Ozone layer which is getting thinner and thinner) and breathing the same air. The impact we have on the environment today is making a big difference on the world of our posterity. It’s our responsibility to care for our planet and ensure our future well-being.

I like this excerpt from an environmentalist, and I’m just going to end this blog post by using her entertainingly reflective words. And it says, “Human race probably isn’t going to die out anytime soon – but we are using up resources faster than we can replenish them.” True enough, we are eating up whatever our forefathers have left us, leaving only scarce resources for the next generation to come. And that is bad. This planet needs our help, I might sound a bit over the top but whatever. You already know that. So help out! The best way to plant a tree or help the environment in whatever way you can was 20 years ago, the second best time is NOW.

I hope this blog somehow poked your conscience and would, in some way, mobilize you to start the change you want to see (Oh ha very LaSallian, haha) and begin caring for the environment which God has entrusted to us (and very INC-ish, haha).

Ciao!
