Started off the first month of the year with an
unforgettable hiking experience with my two lovely girls at Iloilo’s little
Baguio (Brgy. Bucari, Leon).
This hiking experience was a tough act for the three of us since we barely knew
the place but it didn’t really matter
cos what we were looking was pure adventure and yes, it turned out to be more than
what we expected.
It's definitely one for the books!
Allow me share to you a little tip when you’re planning
out your hiking trip in Bucari Leon. If you’re coming from Iloilo City and
commuting on a PUV, you must:
- Take the Jeepney going to Leon at Jaro Big Market - the fare costs about 30php each
- From Leon Market, ride a motorcycle going to Bucari’s jeepney parking area – 10php each
- Lastly, take a Jeep going to Bucari’s Camp Site - 40php each
Easy, right?
Nota Bene: Unless you’re travelling in a closed vehicle, take a hanky with you if you don’t want to get your face powdered by thick dust of loose sand. :)

Travel time takes at least 1 and a half – 2 hours of ride. Thank the good Lord if you’ll be riding a jeep with comfortable seats, ours didn’t have
any foam. Please don’t ask how our butts felt after.
We camped out at Bucari’s Camp Site operated by their Baranggay officials, correct me if I’m wrong but we believe that they're the ones operating it. Or at least we thought to make us feel safer, haha.
Doesn't mater anyway cos the person in charge, kuya Evan, a former barangay offical for more than a decade made it feel safe to stay inside the site. And yes, it was indeed safe.
What made us feel
safe even more were the new found friends we had during the jeepney ride who also stayed the night in the camp site. They
were people in their late 50’s. They rented a cabin and enjoyed the weather of the mountain. Those people were amazing, we did too much chit
chat to the point of teasing each other with the “aswang” folk tales that
made Stef wail from fear. That was one of the best moments ever! Hahaha. Don’t
you just love scaring your friends/cousins?
We had dinner together with them too.
Oh yeah. Staying at
the camp requires an entrance fee of 100php per head. Their cabin costs around
1,500php and it's good for 8 persons. If you want to camp out, you can rent a space
anywhere inside the campsite for only 100php regardless of the size of the tent you
will be using. They also offer tents that you can rent for 300php including the
space you’ll be occupying.
I guess you have all the information you need.
Now let me show you the photographs we had during the hike.
First 3 minutes and Stef was already complaining. Hahaha. But after that she never complained, she eventually got addicted to hiking.
The best travel buddies anyone could ever have, I wish my other half was here tho, he's also a total crazy like these two. Hahaha.
This was the view on top of Bucari. You can actually see Iloilo and the Island of Guimaras there. #BestView!
We have been blessed to have the opportunity to gaze upon God's magnificent creation.
On the way to the falls but had a little stop over cos the trails we trekked were intense! haha.
Beautiful buwis buhay bridge.
I could live here for a lifetime and more.
We cooked our food for dinner and shared it with our new friends.
God's Promise will endure forever.
Enjoying the morning coffee with a view
Cheers to an amazing experience with these two!
